NEWROZ KURDISH NEW YEAR

NEWROZ
KURDISH NEW YEAR
As an architect, I am very proud of creating spaces that celebrate Kurdish heritage and culture. To celebrate the Kurdish New Year, I designed a Diwaxan that pays homage to Kurdish poets and their timeless verses.
The focal point of the room is a traditional Kurdish fireplace with intricate plaster decoration that highlights crescent moons and bright flowers in shades of red, yellow and turquoise. This fireplace symbolizes the warmth and light of Newroz, the Kurdish New Year.
The walls inside the room are lined with shelves housing framed photographs of prominent Kurdish figures who made significant contributions to politics, literature, and poetry. These figures include famous poets, whose verses perfectly describe the essence of Newroz and the resilience of the Kurdish people.
To create a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, traditional Kurdish furniture has been carefully arranged throughout the room. Low sofas and soft cushions provide comfortable seating for guests to relax and immerse themselves in the poetic and festive atmosphere of Diwaxan.
As guests gather in this thoughtfully designed space, they are surrounded by the rich diversity of Kurdish culture, from the vibrant colors and patterns to the profound texts of Kurdish poets. It is a celebration of the heritage, identity and enduring spirit of the Kurdish people.
